So, in the movie You've Got Mail, Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) is trying to convince the cashier at the supermarket to let Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan) use her credit card in a cash only line. It's during the week of Thanksgiving and the meme below depicts the conversation. Overall, this movie is my favorite, so if you haven't seen it, you need to do so asap.
But, to get to the real story, I wanted to share a little bit about my Thanksgiving. Usually I have gone home in the past, but I ended up staying in Rexburg...and to be honest, I was a little bummed. I always love being with my family so staying in cold Rexburg made me a little sad. But, Andrew stayed this week as well so we spent a majority of the week together which made it so much better.
In the morning, I watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I LOVE this parade not only for the beautiful floats and music, but because I always used to watch it as a kid. I have the goal to one day see this parade in person. It will happen. But mostly, watching it brought up my spirits up which I appreciated.
Later that afternoon, Andrew and I drove up to Mesa Falls, well...more like attempted to haha. We were unable to get the Upper Falls because of the snow, so we stopped at certain areas to look at the beautiful tree's, mountains, and the warm river. It was pretty cold though so we didn't last very long being outside but, nonetheless, it was really fun!
Then, we made dinner. Now, I have never made Thanksgiving dinner before so I wasn't quite sure what to make or how to go about doing the while domestic thing. I do LOVE turkey but I didn't trust my cooking skills on making a full on turkey so we settled on making a delicious breaded chicken which turned out SO good. Andrew helped me bread the chicken and make the potatoes. I made the rolls and the green beans. Oh and for dessert, chocolate chip cookies! Although it was a simple meal, it turned out better than I expected. I love good food, and so does Andrew, so we called the meal a success. We were also able to talk to our families that night which meant a lot to me!
Later that night Andrew and I were talking about the things that we were thankful for. When it was my turn, I realized I was talking for like 5 minutes straight haha. There is just SO much I am truly grateful for, and  I feel so blessed to be alive and happy. Even though life is hard at times, I truly have felt peace and happiness because of God and my Savior, Jesus Christ. Having this special knowledge of who I am and what I am capable motivates me to keeping pushing forward and be better each day. Faith, family, and the relationships we build are the things that matter most!
I hope you all had a safe and happy Thanksgiving with good food and the people that you love. Here's to the start of a new week and the beginning of the Christmas season!
ps...only 26  more days 'til Christmas...not like i'm counting or anything.
